SLTF Participation in the 2018 AAHEFA International Conference, Malawi

The first ever International Conference of the Association of African Higher Education Financing Agencies (AAHEFA) which came off successfully from the 24th to the 27th of September 2018, was under the theme Innovatively Financing Higher Education For The Jobs of Tomorrow”.

The conference aims to continue efforts made to develop and implement sustainable solutions meant to improve students’ financial aid systems across Africa.

Again, it brings together a wide array of Fund Managers, Administrators; Higher Learning Institutions; Policy and Decision Makers in Education; Entrepreneurs; Banking and ICT organizations; Higher Education related NGOs; International Development Partners and Agencies to discuss innovative ways to strengthen partnerships, collaboration and strategic alliances in addressing challenges facing higher education financing across Africa.

The annual event was to provide a platform for member countries and participants to share experiences and best practices in the Management, Disbursement of Bursaries, Scholarships, as well as the Recovery of Students Loans across Africa.

The Minister of Higher Education of Malawi – host nation of the event, delivered the Key Note Address in opening the 2018 conference, while Mr. Chris Chisoni, CEO of Higher Education Students Loan and Grants Board (HESLGB, Malawi) and also the Deputy Secretary of AAHEFA gave the Welcome Address.

The Trust Fund was represented by a five –member delegation comprising the CEO, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah; Deputy Director – Internal Audit, Mrs. Gifty Appiasie; the Head of Planning Research and Information Systems Dept, Mr. Jupiter Nyamadi; the Senior Finance Manager, Mr. Frederick Asare Amoah and Mr. Justice Sarkodie, Senior Operations Manager, of the Repayments & Recovery Unit.
