Management of the Students Loan Trust Fund commenced the year by receiving a joint delegation from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and the Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students (GNUPS). The two bodies paid a courtesy call on the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to:
- Introduce their leaders for the 2016/17 academic year and strengthen the existing cordial work relationship the Fund has had with the student leadership over the years.
- Congratulate Management for implementing the Pre-Registration Continuing Students Loan (PRC) and the Students Loan Plus (SL-Plus) both of which have strong prospects in reducing financially induced student drop- out rates over time.
- Jointly agree on synergies that will ensure timely information on the availability and criteria of accessing the Students Loan at the various campuses across the country, and
- Jointly prompt the subject of loan repayments on relevant platforms to sustain the Fund.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SLTF, Mrs Sheila Naah Boamah received the delegation and the 3-man NUGS delegation was led by the President, Mr. Julian M. Cobbinah while the Coordinating Secretary, Mr Abdul Rahman Ibrahim. led that of GNUPS.
The out-going executives of GNUPS, led by Mr. Joshua Tetteh was present to ride on the back of the opportunity to honor the Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund with a citation. They mentioned that the citation was in recognition of the strong growth and innovations the Fund has implemented under Mrs. Boamah’s leadership.
The new executives pledged their committment to support the Fund in their resolve to promote access to tertiary education, especially for brainy students from financially challenged backgrounds.
The Trust Fund, led by its CEO, thanked the student leadership for appreciating the Funds efforts and commended them for working closely with the Fund over the period to implement policies and solutions.
