Press Launch to Kick Start Programme Line-Up for the Celeberation of the 10th Anniversary of the Students Loan Trust Fund

To kick start major activities line-up in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Students Loan Trust Fund, (SLTF), a brief and beautiful Press Launch was held this morning at the Conference room of the Ministry of Education in Accra.

In her statement, the Minister of Education, Hon. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, mentioned among others that, the press has been engaged as part of SLTF’s 10th Anniversary celebration to appreciate the operations of the Trust Fund and be better placed to help in educating the mass of its activities. In conclusion, she said that while taking stock of 10th years of SLTF’s operations, there is the need to congratulate predecessors such as SSNIT, major stakeholders, and all other partners and donors which support the entire tertiary students’ body in various ways.

The Board Chairman of the Trust Fund also indicated that, he is happy the commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of SLTF, has started with a Press Launch. He ended by calling on the Press to put the issues of students’ loan on their front pages to kick-start the discourse on the students’ loan operations and get meaningful inputs from stakeholders to facilitate enhancement of its operations in the coming years.

The CEO of the Trust Fund, Mrs. Sheila Naah-Boamah, speaking at the sidelines of the event, presented a historical perspective of the operations of the Trust over the years. She highlighted major challenges related to loan application requirements and processes over the years, and catalogued innovation/reforms that had been introduced to resolve same.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Minister in-charge of Tertiary Education, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa mentioned that, the enviable successes chalked by the Trust Fund as an agency of the Ministry over the period are well recognized. He also called on the need for the Fund to look at innovative ways of making things even much better in the future.

In attendance was a collection of current Board of Trustees; Management members as well as selected staff of the Trust Fund.
