2014 International Essay Contest For Young People

The Goi  Peace Foundation is  inviting entries from young Ghanaians aged 25 and below, for the 2014 edition of the International Essay Contest, which is jointly organised by the foundation and UNESCO on the theme “My Role as a Citizen of Earth’’.

The underlying aim of the contest is to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development

The 2014 contest like the previous editions is divided into two (2) categories. Children’s category for candidates 14 years and below and the Youth category for candidates between 15 and 25 years.  All entries submitted in English, French, Spanish or German must be composed of 700 words or less or 1600 characters if in Japanese, typed or printed.

The Children’s category for the 2013 edition of this contest was won by a student of the Morning Star School, Accra, Master Mikiya Tan–Okyere, aged 9 years of Ghanaian and Japanese parents with his essay titled  ‘’The Wisdom of the Ghanaian People’’. The First Prize of the Youth category was taken by 24 year–old Rogers Kimuki of Rwanda with the essay titled ‘’The Devil Abolished in My Mind’’.

In the light of the Missions goal of fostering and enhancing closer cooperation between Ghana and Japan in various field including education and cultural exchange, it is recommended that Ghanaian students be encouraged to participate in this year’s edition of the essay competition.
